Office buildings in general leave a lot to be desired. Often generic looking at best, indie filmmakers making their locations an office is a challenge for both the cinematographer and colorist. Watching most Hollywood level films, production design is usually working to make the offices look much nicer. One challenge is dealing with the dreaded white walls which makes the image look really flat. Unless it’s part of the visual story, production design has painted the walls different from white (or alternatively using a different texture like wood).
Here’s an example I created to match Bad Education, giving an office with white walls some color treatment.
